Genshin Impact‘s Queen of the Summer Festival is back!

Yoimiya has to be one of the most underrated DPS characters Genshin Impact has been published so far.

Now that this Pyro Bow wielder is set to make her first-ever iteration in a Solo Banner alongside her best-in-slot weapon, Thundering Pulse, here are a few reasons why you should head to the Inazuman Festival Queen!

Fireworks maker and devastating damage dealer

Yoimiya is all about her basic attacks, making her a devastating damage dealer by spamming just a single button.

This means she’s good at facing bosses alone and can save you when you’re in need when fighting the solo bosses introduced in Spiral Abyss rotations.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s only for solo bosses. When paired with a great crowd control character like Venti, she can easily decimate mobs without even breaking a sweat.

Yoimiya’s elemental ability, Niwabi Fire-Dance, is her bread and butter. When cast, she infuses her basic attacks with Pyro for 10 seconds, which also increases the damage she can deal.

Coupled with her fast normal attack animations, Yoimiya essentially becomes a Pyro Machine Gun until she comes to victory.

Personally, just having to press a single button at a time and finishing off my opponents is pretty fun.

However, Yoimiya’s Elemental Burst, Ryuukin Saxifrage tends to be more supportive of the rest of the group.

With her burst, she inflicts area-of-effect Pyro DMG and marks an enemy with a golden fire that periodically explodes when hit by characters other than Yoimiya with normal, charged, or dashing attacks.

With that, your normal rotation with Yoimiya begins with her popping her abilities and bombarding enemies with wave after wave of Pyro DMG.

Once Niwabi Fire Dance’s buff runs out, you can use Yoimiya’s Burst and switch to your sub DPS, whose damage will be boosted by the Aurous Blaze.

After eight seconds has elapsed (Niwabi Fire-Dance has an 18-second cooldown), you can then switch back to Yoimiya to start another rotation… as long as the enemy hasn’t already turned to ash.

team compositions

To maximize Yoimiya’s damage output, it’s best to place her in a team that complements each other’s elements for reactions and combos.

As such, Yoimiya can be the driver for a vaporize/melt composition alongside a buffer and crowd control character.

However, Yoimiya is not limited to a reaction-based team either.

Dealing pretty much all of her damage from basic attacks, Yoimiya can be paired with Yun Jin or a C6 Thoma on a team where she’s just blazing her way to victory.

Yoimiya’s Premium team can be quite a drain on the budget as it’s made up of 5-star characters like Yelan, Kazuha, and Zhongli, but it’s no deterrent to playing her as there are amazing 4-stars out there that are good to her fit and their kit.

Here are some F2P friendly team builds you can try:

  • Yoimiya, Xingqiu, Sucrose, Noelle

  • Yoimiya, Xingqiu, Bennett, and Yun Jin

  • Yoimiya, Yun Jin, Barbara, Thoma

Fun to play, set up quickly

Yoimiya’s gear is by far some of the friendliest for non-spending players, as she has her own special artifact set and can flourish with a free-to-play bow.

Her special artifact set, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, increases your normal, charged, and dashing ATK damage by 50% for 10 seconds, at the cost of 15 of your energy after casting your elemental skill.

So giving her this set will maximize her skill’s damage potential to the fullest.

Since Yoimiya uses her burst after she deals her damage, the energy cost of Shimenawa’s Reminiscence 4-piece set bonus isn’t a huge issue.

Another artifact set that works well with Yoimiya is the 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames. Although this set doesn’t greatly increase your normal attacks like Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, you can fully invest in your reactive team as it will increase your Pyro DMG bonus and the reactive damage you receive when attacking elemental enemies (like Vaporize, Melt, overloading and burning).

If you don’t already have enough good artifacts for a 4-piece set, you can also run with a 2-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence and a 2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames.

You should be looking for an ATK% sand, a pyro DMG bonus goblet, and a crit rate or DMG circlet.

For her weapon of choice, it’s a no-brainer: her best-in slot is the 5-star Thundering Pulse.

This bow’s passive ability greatly increases your normal damage in stacks, making it ideal for a hard-hitting Yoimiya.

But if you choose to go frugal, the 4-star Rust weapon is one of your best bets. While it reduces the damage of your charged attacks (which you hardly ever will anyway), it increases your normal attack damage instead.

For crafting, the best (and only) option you can choose is the Hamayumi, which behaves like the Shimenawa’s Reminiscence artifact set, but instead of losing 15 energy, your normal and charged attacks are boosted when you have 100% energy .

If you like easy kits with big damage, Yoimiya is for you!

It might seem daunting to use them at first, but it will be one of the best decisions you make as you make your way to victory with your Pewpew Genshin Impact.

Yoimiya is the banner 5-star character for the second half of Genshin Impact version 2.8, which will run until August 22nd.
