Buzz Lightyear is back. Three years after the publication of toy story 4Pixar’s iconic character has returned with his own spin-off film.
light yearstreaming now on Disney+ tells the story of the action figure’s origin and his adventures to infinity and beyond.
But the character sounds a little different than the Space Ranger that appeared in all four toy story movies.
That’s because Tim Allen, who voiced Buzz Lightyear in the popular franchise, has been replaced by Marvel star Chris Evans.
The move to recast Allen has caused some confusion among fans, but there’s a simple reason Evans was chosen as Buzz’s new voice.
Why isn’t Tim Allen speaking up on Buzz? light year?
light year it’s not about the Buzz Lightyear toy from the toy story movies. Instead, it focuses on the hero who inspired the toy.
“I’ve always wondered what movie Buzz was from,” director and screenwriter Angus MacLane told Yahoo earlier this year.
“Why couldn’t we just do this movie? So we did that… [Lightyear is] the movie Andy saw that changed his life… Andy’s war of stars.”
Pixar made the decision to replace Tim Allen with Chris Evans in the spin-off because they wanted to differentiate between the two characters.
MacLane told Vanity Fair, “Tim’s version of Buzz is a little sillier and a little bit dumber, so he’s the comic relief.
“In this film, Buzz is the action hero. He’s serious and ambitious and funny, but not in a goofy way that would undermine the drama.
“Chris Evans has the seriousness and movie star quality that our character needed to differentiate him and the film from Tim’s version of the toy toy story.”

Evans has admitted that taking on the role of Buzz Lightyear was “intimidating”.
The actor, best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said, “I took my cues from Tim Allen.

“He did such a good job and I would be an idiot not to acknowledge his work. But I couldn’t just make a shameless impression.
“I kind of had to come up with my own understanding of the character and try to make some fresh tracks in the snow while paying tribute to his great work.
“Eventually I felt comfortable enough to do my own rendition, and part of that was lowering the tone of my voice. I basically have to lower the pitch of my voice in everything I do.”
What did Tim Allen say about his replacement with Chris Evans?
In the absence of press interviews for the Pixar film, Tim Allen remained silent about being replaced by Chris Evans ahead of its release.
However once light year Hit theaters, Allen spoke to Extra about why he didn’t speak up.
“The short answer is I stayed out of it because it’s unrelated [with my Buzz Lightyear]’ Allen said.
“It’s a wonderful story,” said the actor light year. “It just doesn’t seem to have any connection to the toy… It just isn’t connected. I wish there was a better connection.”
Speaking about Buzz, Allen added, “That’s it [Tom] Hank and I There really aren’t any toy story Hum without Woody.”
Despite rumors that Disney caught him off guard, Allen is continuing to work with the studio on his upcoming Disney+ series The Santasin which he returns as Scott Calvin.

light year follows Buzz after he is stranded on a hostile planet 4.2 million light years from Earth.
He must work with a group of new recruits including Mo Morrison (Taika Waititi) and Darby Steel (Dale Soules) to find a way back home.
The mission is commanded by Alisha Hawthorne, voiced by Orange is the new black Star Uzo Abuda.
James Brolin plays Buzz’s nemesis, Emperor Zurg, while Keke Palmer provides the voice for Alisha’s granddaughter, Izzy Hawthorne.
Peter Sohn, who directed Pixar’s 2015 film The good dinosaurlends his voice to Buzz’s robotic cat companion, Sox.
